Penned Up Emotion's

I am alone inside the dark cupboard. A thick layer of dust sits on me. All the fluid inside me has dried up. I am 'statue' for all practical purposes. But i am not a statue either. I am still alive. I can still be useful. In the hands of my master i can do many things. There was a time when my master used to use me,take care of me all the time. I am hero, was and still is.Now only in name. I still remember the day when i was picked up my master in the stationary shop.I was his first fountain pen.The very first! The unbridled joy and enthusiasm on his face still makes my day. .He was very young not more than 9 years old at that time.Initially he did not know how to fill the ink.He struggled for quite sometime. At times , his hands(eventually his face),shirt, hair were filled with ink stains. But overtime he mastered it. I was used for his Class work , Home Work, Unit Test, Class Tests, Mid term exam, Final exam and eventually even for the diaries he kept. His day began with me and ended with me. Then as he grew older he was introduced to my evil cousin ball point pen. They are useless bunch i tell you. They –use and throw types don't have a identity. I am pretty sure my master would have thrown loads of them in dustbin. However, those slim so called pens have destroyed our community. We are now relegated to the dark cupboard's. Only recently I heard there was a ad on the TV which involved one of members of the community. I hope the golden age will come back; at least for our community if not for me.

FuturePast!

Ravi was having a hard time sleeping. Infact it had been days since he had a good nap. He did not have any relationship problems, health problems nor anything out of the place in his room. But, Ravi still felt out of place. He felt like he was transported to another world.Infact it was more like one of those old black and white movies. He got up from his bed and went to the Window and looked outside from his 39th floor view. He  could see more than half the city, the place where he was born, grown up and lived all life. Once a view which captured the bustling city life now showed its exact opposite.World was dead outside, not from lack of people but from something else. That something else had been the heart of the civilzation for more than 150 years so much that its end  was unanticipated . Not completely though but still they had not prepared for it. It was always believed that it would last a few more years, few more months, and even in last hopeles hour people were hoping it would last a day. In disbelief of it's end there had been riots.( not the first one  on the same..last 5 years previous to that had witness quite a few). After, some senseless killings it finally dawned upon the humans that fighting, rioting would not get it back. Then, the whole world seemed to have become quite. The world which for ages was big was made small by that thing. The world was now back to it's old size.Distances mattered!.Again it was inconceivable to travel the seas. That something was "Fossil Fuels"..and that had crashed the world of so many peope like Ravi. Everybody had to travel back in time to past!

Resolution 2008

" He woke up to an irritating sound of dogs barking. He was very angry that municipal had not done enuf against stray dogs. The dog's barking irritated him so much that he lost his sleep entirely. He had a long day ahead of him, and this made his matters worse. It was 8:00 by the time newspaper was delivered. He lost his cool and blasted the paper boy. After he closed the door he was muttering to himself about 'how people in this country have no sense of time".. It was 9:00 by the time he finally got ready to head for his office in the so called "IT corridor".
It was 9:30 he was stuck in a jam .He could see a sea of cars, cabs, buses, two wheelers, autos, cabs everywhere. He was looking at the watch every two minutes hoping it would stop. He had a meeting at 10:30 ,having been late so many times before, could not afford to be late once more. He tried breaking through each jam speeding his bike as fast as possible, going on footpath, overtaking from left, right, center,he even jumped a traffic signal but all he could do was end up in the next jump. He honked his horn, muttered a word or two of unspeakable to a "uncle" who was driving on the left very slowly ( Right and center had two Volvo buses)..He finally managed to overtake that "loser" and he could finally see his company building on the horizon. Just as he was entering the home stretch he was stopped by traffic police, he had broken the one way rule. He was very angry and told the police this rule was unjustifiable. He also pointed that there were so many people ahead of him who were not caught. His words fell into deaf ears he was asked to cough up 500 rupees. He then decided that bullying technique wont work , so he asked to cop to adjust .He was told to pay 200 without bill. Seeing no other option he paid it.
He ended up late to the office, almost missing the meeting and got blasted. He told his sorry story to every soul he met. He was angry about the inefficient municipality who had done nothing to stray dog problem, to the late coming newspaper boy, horrible traffic, corrupt traffic cop. He menaced no words when he told his friends that "India sucks man!"..He was also of the opinion that democracy was the problem , he wanted a dictator to rule the country. He would always point out how china had done remarkable progress with communism. "
How many of us behave like this? .A lot( maybe not in entirety) .We need to change they way we view government. It is new year, a great time to make a new year resolution. I hope a few at least resolve to not blame the supposedly 'all evil government' , if not to bring a change ourselves.

PS: abt the china comment i have heard that many a times intend to write a entire post on it.

Openings for openers!

It was 2049. 5 days away from what would be 2050. There was a festive atmosphere everywhere. Millennium celebrations half a century ago were what it was being compared to. Things had changed it seemed from then but not everywhere. Boxing day cricket test match was still being played in Australia. Test cricket had not disappeared nor become completely outdated . It was apparently played then in outdoors on green grass and mud pitch! Decisions were manually given by people called "Umpires"!. Thank goodness cricket is no more crazy. The newly constructed Ricky ponting indoor stadium in Melbourne was going to be used this year. The game was being played between AUS ( C- ) vs Bharath (erstwhile India). Among the 52 teams Aus had they decided it was enuf to field AUS ( C -) to do the job.
The game started at 2:30 IST ( to cater to the huge bharath audience) . There was a huge bharath contingent to watch the match. Bharath players were having a second homecoming or so they felt.
.By, polling (through several means!) it was decided that bharath team should play first. The pitch was also decided by the polling to be little soft with some artifical cracks on the otherwise clean synthetic surface. Saffron coloured bharath players came out to standing ovation. Bharath openers were smiling and waving to the audience. They had been selected though a nationwide talent hunt. They had enthralled the audience on small screens for long but it was the first time they were going to play in a real cricket match. Bhrath players finally took guard of their stumps. Who among the two will be play first was also decided by voting. The AUS ( c- ) team bowler who was silent through the fanfare for the last ten minutes finally came into the scene . He bowled the first ball an out swinger, the bharath player had a go at it but the pink ball's trajectory never intersected his wide bat. The tale of woes continued the ball and bat seemed to have a fall out with each other. They never seem to meet. After about an half an hour, a straight ball was delivered to the glee of our talent hunt wonder but the weight of the time had worked on our half-brained wonder he hit it straight to the only fielder(13th man) stationed outside the boundary. ( To some who are not aware of this new rule the 13th can also now field outside the boundary)!. That was it!..one had perished.. The other wonder got out the next over to a bouncer which did not bounce. The 40 some bouncers which did bounce had ensured that his head always ducked. So it was over both the openers had perished. In the drinks break an ad came out "openings for openers....."..Next year's talent hunt had already begun.....

the day that was-III

well..after so many mock's...this was the real one!..They had changed the pattern this time..less number of questions and thus more marks/question. When i saw that i had a flashback..it remainded me of a day a few months back..when my brother advised me.."work on accuracy.U will surely make it!".. I took a deep breath and started off with the English section..as usual i started with RC's as i had been doing for several previous mocks. The questions and choices were ambigious for RC's.So one had to make a educated guess. And also to my surprise one of the passages sounded very familiar....i could not pin point to where i had read it then..but now i know it was from editorial page in hindu paper many months ago!..Then i moved swiftly into the DI section..I think this one went pretty well..(only after i came out i heard it was supposedly tough one!)......but i had still made a mistake which was probably fatal in the final analysis..i had outrun my time for DI..now i had 35 minutes left..and then the second big mistake..i started attempting 2 markers in an attempt to negate the time loss..tough they were!..and screwed, did ,i the section...tired back/neck sagging shoulders did not help matters..

Day that was ...II

well folks now i continue with my sad story
"Just as my admit card was checked i got into II Block...Now the most important activity on my agenda was to find the LOO...So i decided to ask a guy with the IIM-B batch(ps:he was an IIM-B faculty member)...He retorted "Use ur head" in a grumpy sort of way..Well what did he mean?..Did he mean Use head as loo..not possible so it must have been to use my brain...Well It was finally my eyes and not my brain which helped me to find the LOO..I did find it but to my amusement the queue here was just a little shorter than one in front of the building..which means everybody was heading to LOO......Well after a ten minutes wait in front of the loo..And couple of minutes inside i was ready to enter the designated class room for writing CAT..So i was inside the Room No.607 at 28 past 10...Well if somebody had gone by the book no one was allowed inside after 10:15( imagine if somebody had told me to go back at that time!).....
nyway after that began the strip search..oops sorry just body search...i had got to used to the funda of having no chits in pocket..(not even ur wallet) due to our famed vtu exams...so now time was around 10:40...now suddenly a loud voice start comming out of no where!!!...it took me a second or two to realize that they had put a loudspeaker and somebody was speaking from the mike!!!...From the voice i could tell it was the same old iim faculty...he was blurting out the very same rules which were very clearly printed on my admit card!.....Now he told the invigilators to start distributing the booklets...i had thought this booklets will pinned andsealed..and was planning to play the old dirty trick i had played in all previous enterance exams!..that is to turn the booklet..press the last page and start looking at the questions in the last page!...but Alas not to be this time..they had put the booklet in a translucent cover x-(......anway this "IIM Guy" again blurted out the rules which was printed on top of the booklet..he must have thought we were all blind!...so after this 20 minutes of noise from speakers...a silence once gain befell upon the whole campus..the cat exam had begun...."

The Day that was...-I

It has been eons seens i updated my blog..i always used to come up with various reasons for not updating it..but here we go on November 20..one of the supposingly important days of my life i am going to update the blog.
"........I woke up to screeching alram clock...i tried hitting it with my hands to shut it up..but alas it was not on the side of my pillow.I had taken extra care to keep it on my table....this extra few yards i hoped would remove my laziness..Not to be!Not to be...the alram clock might have bugged the life of my next door neighbour(imagaine ur neighbour having an alarm on 6:30 on a sunday!)...it was finally after my mother told cat cat i realised it ..oh yeah..it is the day where i had to bell the cat...i woke up grumbling to myself ...man why don't they allows us to take cat whenever we want like gmat(surprise: even IIMA director seems to think on similar lines)...Fast forward one more hour( i don't want to dwell on personal details becoz i may end up in some tamil nadu jail!)......My dad had agreed to drop me off in car but the rider was i had to be ready by 8:10(btw exam starts at 11:00)..so i landed up in christ college campus at around 8:40...there began the first of the surprise albeit not the last one :-(....There were loads of jantha waiting at the college gate..one sec i looked at my watch and admit card ..i had begun to wonder if the exam was at 9:00....it was not ..then i started heading towards the notice board to check wheather my cat reg no is in this campus(imagine if it weren't)..it was in christ degree college and it was in II Block..i had written all my NTSE,STSE,all other such stupid exams on the main block....so this was a new part of the campus..Fast forward another hour(nothing much happend in the intervening hour i got some vitamin-d..that is all!).It was about 9:55 .then a bunch of christ collegites(must be cannot vouch on that one) came out of II block with some cover..i told ajay "that must be cat question paper".."shit should have made friends with these people"..Btw. these students were the invigilators....and at 10:00 clock we were given the green signal to enter the building not before standing in long long queue(each person was checked for admit card)...which made me tell ajay " i feel like entering cinema hall.."..A smart guy who was standing in front of us who had apparently overheard said "Even for Swades i did not have to stand in such a long queue"..well it was 10:15 and i was inside...More on my sad story morrow! "
